THE skies over Cheshire were lit up through the night as lightning bolts hit the area.
Following the hot weather over the weekend and Monday, storm were forecast to hit through the night and some residents stayed up to witness the show.
Pictures from across the area show the huge bolts of lightning which continued for several hours throughout the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Residents took to social media to post incredible pictures and video they captured of the 'silent storm'.
Spectators marveled at the lightning show, which incredibly came without any rain or even thunder.
