THE WITTON COLUMN – by Paul Harper

FOOTBALL has returned as the Witton Albion Under-21 side played their Runcorn Linnets counterparts in a friendly last weekend.

After a few weeks of training and player trials, the management team have picked their initial squad and have been pleased with how things of progressing.

It was a tight first half with the scores level at 1-1, but the Albion youngsters kicked on in the second period and picked up an impressive 4-1 victory. Well done to the lads!

The first team return to action next week with their initial pre-season friendly against National League North side Southport.

It is really unfortunate that the game, and the other fixtures in the pre-season schedule, will be played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 guidelines, but we will do everything we can to bring fans the best coverage possible.

Please look out for information via the club’s social media channels in the coming days.

As we continue to look ahead to the new season, last week we launched season tickets.

Hopefully, supporters will be allowed back into the stadium soon and a season ticket will be the best value way to follow the club in 2020-21.

Prices have been frozen from last season, and as we did last term, under-18s can qualify for a FREE ticket to all Northern Premier League home fixtures with a junior membership.

As we lost a number of home games at the end of last season, those junior members who turned 18 over the course of last season will be offered an extra year free membership as a thank you for their valued support.

It was fantastic to see such a large take up of this offer last year and hopefully we can further build on those numbers this time around.

It was great to see so many young faces at our games last season. They are the future of our club and we are delighted to continue with this fantastic offer to allow them to access live football free of charge.

All the season ticket details are available on the club website and social media channels, with early bird prices available until 31st August before a small increase after that date.

We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone back at Wincham Park, so please continue to follow the government advice and hopefully, we will be able to see you all very soon.
