THE family of a man described as the 'life of the party' who passed away suddenly last week have paid heartfelt tribute.

Anthony Waine, 53, was found dead at home in Birkenhead by his son last Wednesday. His passing came three years after the death of childhood sweetheart Geraldine; the mother of of his three children.

The cause of death is unknown at this stage.

His family have set up a justgiving page to help pay for funeral costs and help children Terri, Leescott and Layla.

Paying tribute to Anthony, Gerdaldine's niece Chelsea Dillon told the Globe today: "He was the life of the party, brightened up the room as soon as he walked in. Everybody loved him.

"He was always there if you needed a helping hand and had a really good sense of humour. He got on with anyone in a room.

"He took everything in his stride and just got on with it when times got tough.

"As it stands, we do not know the circumstances around Anthony's death. These circumstances do not circulate around COVID-19 as we await for a post-mortem."

Paying tribute to her aunt and uncle, Chelsea continued: "Geraldine was a well-known and loved person in Birkenhead passed away three years ago at the age of 50.

"Anthony and Geraldine were childhood sweethearts and inseparable.

"When Geraldine passed away, Anthony found it very difficult to cope and has never been the same without her.

"It took its toll on him for a very long time.

"Being with her was something that he craved.

"The silver lining and comfort is now Anthony and Geraldine are now reunited, long-lost childhood sweethearts.

"Anthony will be missed by many and will definitely be the brightest star in the sky, right next to our Gezzabell.

"The secret message is to always count your lucky ones because you never know when the last time is going to be that you'll get to see, speak and hold them".

Anthony, one of eight children, was a proud grandad to baby Anthony, Leah and Alisha and also a grandad for the fourth time with baby grandson number four on the way.

Chelsea continued: "He was a dedicated Liverpool football fan and was excited about his new grandson coming into the world in November to show him the ropes and someone to entertain the football with."
