POLICE have charged a man with attempted murder following an assault in which a man suffered neck and leg injuries.

Officers have charged a 29-year-old suspect following an alleged attack on Eaton Street, Prescot on Sunday, July 19.

A man in his 40s is believed to have suffered injuries to his neg and leg after an assault believed to have involved a machete.

Thomas Peers, of Woodlands Road, Roby, has been charged with attempted murder.

Peers, 29, has been remanded into custody.

He will appear back in court on Friday, August 28.

Meanwhile, detectives have also today issued a CCTV appeal to trace a man they would like to speak to in connection with the attack. 

A Merseyside Police statement said: "We have charged a 29 year-old man with attempted murder following an incident on Eaton Street, Prescot, on July 19 this year in which a man in his 40s was assaulted and suffered injuries to his neck and leg.

"Thomas Peers, of Woodlands Road, Roby, was remanded into custody to appear in court on August 28, 2020."
