AN INQUEST into the death of a man who was allegedly assaulted on a St Helens street has been adjourned for criminal proceedings to take place.

Warren Glover, described as a devoted and caring dad, died in hospital on Tuesday, July 7, more than three weeks after suffering severe head injuries when he was allegedly attacked on French Street, Toll Bar on the night of Saturday, June 13.

Three suspects have been charged with murder in connection with Warren's death.

An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned today (Thursday, July 30) during a short hearing held by Sefton, Knowsley and St Helens coroner's court.

In the hearing coroner's officer Clair Sajewicz said Warren, who was from Prescot and was a "single male" who worked as a "medical administrator", died on July 7 at The Walton Centre.

Ms Sajewicz said: "I request the inquest to be adjourned and suspended to allow criminal proceedings to be conducted.

"Mr Glover sustained a traumatic head injury during an altercation which led to him being hospitalised. Despite support his injuries were traumatic and his death was confirmed at 4.47pm on July 7.

"A police investigation is ongoing and criminal proceedings are scheduled. Therefore, the suspension is requested."

Senior coroner Julie Goulding said: "The inquest will be adjourned to enable the police and CPS to continue with their investigation.

"After the proceedings the inquest may be continued if it is appropriate to do so."

Melissa Stubbs, 28, of Lane End Road, Manchester, last week became the third person to be charged with murder in connection with the death of Warren.

Stubbs appeared before Liverpool Magistrates' Court for a brief hearing on Thursday and was remanded in custody until August 10.

Peter Walker, 30, of Garth Road, Manchester and Aaron Stubbs, 30, of Lane End Road, Manchester were earlier charged with murder and have also been remanded to appear next month at Liverpool Crown Court.

The defendants are yet to enter pleas.

As part of the police investigation, a 41-year-old man from Stockport, previously arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent, is on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

A 54-year-old woman was also interviewed under caution earlier this month in connection with the incident, and remains under investigation.
