STRICTLY'S Giovanni Pernice is bringing a taste of Latin and ballroom back into town with his new show coming to St Helens Theatre Royal.

The Italian stallion had to join other entertainers across the country in cancelling his UK and Ireland tour 'This is Me' due to coronavirus, however he has now rescheduled the shows from February 2021, and is stopping by St Helens Theatre Royal on Sunday, March 28.

Gio was devastated to have to put the 2020 tour on hold just a couple of weeks after opening night, announcing on Instagram “Never wanted this moment to arrive, but here we go…I’m so sorry to say that we have had to reschedule the remaining shows of the THIS IS ME tour.

St Helens Star:

"We have to think of everyone’s health and wellbeing. Thank you to all of the amazing audiences we have had and apologies to those that haven’t seen the show yet.

"I hope we will be able to return soon…but in the meantime, be safe, be healthy, look after each other and be kind. I miss you already…G”

St Helens Star:

Pernice has become a firm fan favourite, having been a professional dancer on the hit BBC TV show Strictly Come Dancing since 2015 and has reached the final three times, with Georgia May Foote, Debbie McGee, and Faye Tozer respectively.

On the 2019 series Giovanni was partnered with Michelle Visage, who is a judge on the popular TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race, making it all the way to Blackpool.

Will 2020 be the year Giovanni wins the coveted glitter ball? He certainly hopes so!

He added: “I dream about that trophy every night, you know, it’s what it means to you.

St Helens Star:

"I would love to sleep next to that trophy for the rest of my life.

"But seriously, I just feel very lucky to have been on the show for so long and to have had such great partners.”

His THIS IS ME tour is his ‘biggest and best ever tour to date’, he added: “I just want to try and do something different, something that you haven’t seen before. I want to challenge myself and show off my hidden talents”

The showman is set to light up the stage once again, along with his cast of professional dancers, for his fifth year of touring.

St Helens Star:

With the Italian’s natural charm, combined with beautiful choreography perfectly complemented by a fabulous soundtrack, THIS IS ME pays homage to the music and dances that have inspired Giovanni’s career, from a competition dancer to one of the biggest names on the hit BBC show.

The St Helens show will take place at 3pm with tickets costing £36 and special limited number of VIP Meet and Greet tickets costing £76 each.
