PLANS have been drawn up to convert a property into four self contained flats for care leavers aged 16 and 17.

The proposals for the change of use of 41 Cowley Hill Lane, along with staff office facilities, have been submitted to the council.

Plans state: “Leaving care is the defining criteria, although young people referred may have additional vulnerabilities or have undergone adverse childhood experiences”.

They add: “The need for this style of accommodation reflects Omega Care’s commitment to meeting the diverse needs of care leavers placed with the organisation”.

The application adds: “Currently, 41 Cowley Hill provides quality accommodation within a ‘real world’ setting, with young peoples’ flats representative of the style of accommodation that they may realistically access as they move into adulthood”.

It says there is a core staff team of three at the property, supported and managed by the Service Lead, with lone working as standard practice.

It says that visiting hours for family and friends would be between 4pm and 10pm.

Plans are on consultation until Tuesday, August 4.
