PUPILS and teachers at Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School in Latchford have buried a time capsule in the new school gates after discovering one from 1990.

Thirty years ago, the pillar at the entrance was rebuilt and head teacher at the time, John Higgins, made a time capsule.

As the pillars are being rebuilt, current head teacher Beverley Scott-Herron decided to create a new capsule.

She said: “It is really important that we capture this unique moment in history and it is truly fascinating to think that this might be discovered in years to come.”

The key worker students all contributed by writing letters.

A Boteler pen and pencil, and a letter from Mrs Scott-Herron, was placed inside

It read: ‘My name is Beverley Scott-Herron and I am currently the head teacher at Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School. I have been a head teacher here since 2014 and it has been the most amazing journey so far.

‘I have no idea when or if this will ever be found. However, 2020 has been a significant year for the world as we had the Covid-19 pandemic, where the world went into lockdown and schools closed.

‘Many people have lost their lives and people have been affected all over the world. Whilst the virus has not gone and restrictions are still in place we are positive that we will come through this even stronger than before.

‘The school community has pulled together and we have worked as a family to ensure that we looked after each other every step of the way.’
