A NEW pub has opened in Widnes following a £1million investment.

The Cook House Pub and Carvery has reopened following a £1,040,000 investment by independent pub operators Punch, with new publicans Colin Stuart and Kenny Watson of Cookhouse Pub & Carvery at the helm.

Formerly the Albion Hotel, the pub has undergone a complete transformation internally and externally.

Outside the pub now features a new lower terrace, children’s play area, upper terrace and beautiful beer garden.

Inside the pub there has been structural alterations to create an open plan layout, including the forming of a separate function room and a dedicated carvery area.

The pub has been decorated to achieve a warm rustic feel with timber effect flooring, feature light fittings and comfortable fixed seating including booths throughout.

Colin and Kenny said: “The transformation here has been epic and we’re thrilled with the look achieved. We are so excited to finally get the doors open and whilst it feels like it has been a long wait, we’ve worked hard to ensure everything is in place to provide a safe and welcoming environment for our customers.

"Whilst we’ve had to put some of our themed events, such as live music nights, on hold, we can’t wait to get to know the local community and introduce them to the Cook House philosophy by creating a place for all the family to enjoy.”

Punch’s Managing Director Andy Spencer says, “This is a significant investment by Punch in this stunning pub and we are really excited to be working with Colin and Kenny who are established pub operators. Matching this fantastic pub with great people who bring a wealth of experience and expertise will ensure the local community will benefit from a terrific pub in the area."
