A PROLIFIC shoplifter has been jailed after he repeatedly targeted a Bury store.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Anton Cassidy, aged 27, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to committing the offences at the Tesco Express shop on Tottington Road.

Between May 28 and June 25, on ten occasions, Cassidy stole hundreds of pounds worth of coffee, chocolate and meat from the shop.

At the time he was also subject to a community sentence for assaulting a woman. The court heard that Cassidy has a “flagrant disregard” for court orders, people and their property.

He was ordered to pay £100 in compensation plus £85 towards prosecution costs.
