OVERNIGHT closures will be in place on two of Warrington's busiest roads from Monday.

A seven-week programme of works on Kingsway South and Knutsford Road will allow for resurfacing to take place.

A council spokesman said: "Due to the difficult nature of the works, it will be necessary to close the roads, and its side roads, for the resurfacing works, with the roads being closed, in phases between 7pm and 1am.

"All roads will be reopened to traffic outside these times.

"Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and vehicular access will be under the control of the principal contractor.

"There will be signed diversion routes in place suitable for all vehicles.

"Information on changes to bus services and any diversions will be posted at stops prior to the start of the works."

The principal contractor for the scheme is Tarmac Trading Ltd.

Major drainage works on Knutsford Road has also been taking place since the start of June resulting in overnight closures.
