A CYCLIST who collided with a milk tanker in Chippenham this morning is fighting for his life in hospital.
The man, in his 30s, suffered a life threatening head injury in a collision on the A350 which happened at about 12.35am today.
A police spokesman said: "The man was riding a Carrera pedal cycle along the A350 near to the Plough crossroads towards Chippenham when he was involved in a collision with the driver of a Renault Artic milk tanker travelling in the same direction.
"The cyclist was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with a life threatening head injury.
"The driver of the milk tanker was not injured ."
The road was closed this morning for six hours while the collision investigators attended the scene and the incident was cleared.
The police spokesman said: "We’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, including anyone who may have been driving in the area with a dash cam fitted to their vehicle.
"Call 101 and quote log number 6 of July 6, 2020."
