JOHNNY Vegas has taken part in an advert urging more people to donate to food banks, particularly during the coronavirus crisis.

Johnny, whose real name is Michael Pennington, is from Thatto Heath and has been doing lots of volunteering during lockdown to help those in most need.

And it's not just close to home where he is making an impact, as he has now lent his voice to an advert calling for more people to donate food in their cupboards they may not be using to food banks.

He said: "Now everything is going back to normal it's important to remember that some people are still really struggling and need our help still.

"We came together for a crisis, but some people are still in need of that help.

"I understand money is tight for everyone, if you can't buy stuff I understand but if you have something in your cupboard in date but you'll not have it then donate it, because it could make a huge difference to someone else.

"For me lending my voice to the advert is great because if it makes anyone think to do it that's what matters."
