St Helens Star:

'We could not have done this without you'

To our local community,

As we prepare to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the NHS this weekend, I would like to take some time to reflect on everything we have been through together as a community.

The last four months have been the most challenging for the NHS in its entire history, and the courage, commitment and professionalism shown by our staff has been extraordinary.

But this has been a team effort, and we could not have done this without you, we have felt your support every step of the way.

Your letters of thanks, the many donations to our staff, the rainbow pictures displayed in homes across our area have lifted our spirits when we have needed it the most.

St Helens Star:

So as we take this time to reflect on how grateful we all are for the incredible work of the NHS, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to you, our local community for the kindness you have shown to us during these difficult times.

It is our privilege to serve you.

Ann Marr OBE, chief executive of St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust
