A WOMAN who trafficked youths between Barrow and Liverpool to sell class A drugs has been jailed.

Preston Crown Court heard Cody McNulty was part of a gang that trafficked ‘drugs, people and money’ between Merseyside and Cumbria.

The 23-year-old was sentenced to four years and 10 months in prison after she was convicted of two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and one count of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Judge Beverley Lunt said: “The evidence against you was overwhelming.

“During the course of the trial you tried to blame your co-accused and ex-partner saying you were an innocent bystander, that you didn’t know or want to know.

“The jury saw through your lies and acquitted your ex-partner.

“The deals were largely made through you.

“You were involved in the supply of class A drugs over county lines in Liverpool and Barrow.

“You accept that you were present on some of these trips. But the evidence makes it clear that you were in the car with two of the main dealers involved in controlled drugs.

“The only possible common sense explanation is grim.

“You knew that you were transporting youths and you knew that you were transporting them across county lines.

“There is no question there must be a sentence of imprisonment.”

The judge sentenced McNulty, of Clifford Street in Birkenhead, to two four-year jail sentences for conspiracy to supply drugs to be served concurrently and a further 10 months for the offence of being concerned in the supply of the drugs.

At an earlier trial she was found not guilty of two counts of arranging travel of another person with a view to exploitation.

Her former partner was acquitted.

Detective Chief Superintendent Dean Holden, of Cumbria Police, said officers were working with other forces to stop county lines dealing.

“The battle continues,” the officer said.
