PUBS and restaurants in and around St Helens are busy planning how to reopen ahead of the big day on July 4.

Here's what some of them are telling their followers on social media:

Eccleston Arms

Andrew Mikhail, owner of The Eccleston Arms, says of the re-opening: “We are more than excited to welcome our customers back again but we are aware that this needs to be done in a safe way, ensuring that government guidelines are followed.

"My team have worked very hard behind the scenes to get ready for this and I am confident that those visiting us will a great experience.’

"We do understand that not everyone will be able to join us from Saturday, as a large number of people are still shielding and are still uneasy with going out of their home for this reason, together with The Steve Prescott Foundation, we have decided to continue our popular ‘Drive In’ service.

"The volunteers from The SPF will deliver delicious restaurant quality meals, 7 days a week, to those unable to leave their homes.

"This also allows us continue our support of the charity that has supported so many during these unprecedented times”

Tables for opening weekend can be booked by calling Ross and the team on 01744 881881.

Toast Cafe, Dentons Green

In a statement the Toast team said: "An exciting week lies ahead as we get our cafe ready for re-opening on the 4th July.

"In this time, we are preparing everything for our lovely customers to have a safe but really enjoyable experience, whenever they feel they are ready to return.
