PLANS for a three-metre high security fence to be put in place around Parr Baths have been approved.

Proposals were drawn up for the installation of the fence and a pedestrian gate on the existing courtyard at the closed site on Ashcroft Street.

The proposals state they seek to create three-metre high fencing to an existing courtyard”.

They add the fence will “incorporate one pedestrian gate”.

The pools at Parr Swimming and Fitness Centre have been closed since last autumn due to safety concerns over the ceiling.

As reported in March, St Helens Council is planning to invest in reopening the pool at Sutton Leisure Centre.

The leisure centre will remain closed for an “indeterminate period” while an assessment is undertaken to determine future options for the provision.
