A LIFE-SAVING defibrillator has been installed in New Bold estate paid for by the community.

The defibrillator and secure cabinet were funded by community fundiraising events done pre-coronavirus pandemic and is sited on the community notice board in the centre of the estate.

It can be accessed 24/7 in the case of an emergency and they are looking to install more in the future.

The defibrillator has been provided thanks to Mersey Medical Services - which is a first aid and event medical services company.

Operations Director Josh Masheder, who is also an A&E doctor and lives on the estate said: "We have a community Facebook page and when someone mentioned it on there it seemed like a great idea to use funds already raise by the community to potentially save lives there too.

"It's not as easy as buying an AED, you also have to adhere to the strict criteria for it to be signed off by North West Ambulance Service and we worked together to find the right place, that is correctly lit etc to allow that to happen.

"We will also be doing community training in the next few weeks to ensure residents know how to use this equipment safely if it is ever needed.

"This is a lovely community and it's good to know that together we are helping each other to keep it that way and protect everyone."
