PLANS to add an extension to a care home to create more bedrooms have been withdrawn.

Proposals to create a two-storey side extension at Linear Park Residential Care Home on Bradlegh Road, Newton-le-Willows had been submitted to the council.

The application stated there would be 16 extra bedrooms created, while two existing bedrooms would be converted to offices.

The extension would take the home's capacity of residents from 31 to 45, plans said.

Plans stated: "The proposed extension to Linear Park Care Home has been designed to provide much needed additional ensuite bedrooms and space for administrative and laundry facilities.

"Consideration has been given to feedback received from the planning department relating to an earlier application. The new design eliminates a previously proposed first floor administrative suite and extensions to existing individual bedroom."

They added the extension for 16 ensuite bedrooms has been "designed within an envelope that is in keeping with the existing building and, taking advantage of the site’s topography, "the accommodation is split over two levels; a continuation of the existing ground floor level and a new lower ground floor below".

Plans added: "Linking the addition to the existing building, there is an extended lounge area with a new, centrally positioned nurse station to oversee the space.

"The new ensuite bedrooms negate the requirement for extending individual bedrooms, again addressing previous concerns".

It also said: "Once the new bedrooms are available, it is proposed to convert a few of the existing bedrooms adjacent to the entrance into the required administrative and laundry space.

"In addition, space is to be provided for a hairdresser, further increasing the comfort of the residents".

A determination deadline for plans had bene set for June 18.

A decision notice confirmed the plans had been withdrawn. The applicant was informed if they intend to resubmit to speak to the case officer to discuss any amendments or revisions.
