No further Wirral coronavirus deaths were recorded in today's figures from NHS England.

It keeps the number of Covid-19 fatalities in Wirral University Teaching Hospital at 217.

A further 143 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 26,865.

Patients were aged between 36 and 100 years old. Eight of the 143 patients (aged between 48 and 91) had no known underlying health condition.  

Their families have been informed.

The Globe has produced two charts today to illustrate the affects of Covid-19 over the month of May.

The above chart shows that the North West was the second worst-hit area of the country for coronavirus deaths last month. Only the Midlands fared worse.

The second chart shows how the daily occurences of deaths has gradually dropped across the course of May, from a high of 305 on May 1 now down to under 100 a day.
