FOUR new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in St Helens in the latest figures.

St Helens had seen several days without any new confirmed cases.

Public Health England figures show that 754 people have been confirmed as testing positive for COVID-19 by 9am Monday morning (June 1) in St Helens, up from 750 the same time on Sunday.

A week before, there were also 750 cases.

This shows a rate of increase on a par with across the UK.

They were among the 25,723 cases recorded across the North West, a figure which rose by 86 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

Across the UK, 276,332 people had tested positive for coronavirus as of 9am on Monday, up from 274,762 at the same point on Sunday, Department of Health and Social Care figures show. As of 5pm on Sunday, 39,045 had died.
