ONE person has been treated by paramedics after a "serious fire" started in a flat.
Firefighters, police and ambulance crews were called after the blaze at a first floor flat on Patricia Court, Albion Street. St Helens this afternoon (Sunday, May 31).
Fire crews alerted at 12.48pm and on scene at 12.53pm with three engines in attendance.
A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Three teams of two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat and began searching the property while extinguishing the fire with a high pressure hose reel jet.
"Crews discovered a casualty in the flat and continued searching for any other possible occupants."
He added: "North West Ambulance Service were also in attendance and provided treatment to the casualty, fire crews assisted. The condition of the casualty cannot be confirmed at this time.
"The fire was extinguished by 1.35pm and the flat has been ventilated using fans.
"Other flats in the vicinity have been evacuated."
