TWO men will voluntarily attend a police station in relation to an assault which left a man unconscious. 

The assault happened in Sutton on Monday, May 18.

At around 2.30pm, emergency services were called to Sutton Road following reports a 29-year-old man was unconscious.

He was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged from hospital with a cut to the mouth, say police.

An investigation was launched and detectives appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

A police spokeswoman said today that two men have come forward voluntarily for interview.

She said: "Two males will be voluntarily attending for interview today and are currently assisting with enquiries as a result of the appeal."

After the incident, Detective Sergeant Leanne Toole said: “This assault has left a man with serious injuries and we are carrying out a number of enquiries to establish the full circumstances and locate those responsible.

“We are particularly keen to speak to the men pictured as we believe they could have vital information to assist the investigation and would ask them, or anyone who recognises them, to please come forward.

“If you were in the Sutton Road area this afternoon and witnessed the assault, anyone making off from the scene, or have any CCTV or dashcam footage, please let us know.”
