SIGNAGE manufacturer Widd Signs has launched a state-of-the-art occupancy management system to help retailers faced with new COVID-19 requirements measure the number of customers in-store.

The bespoke digital signage solution, known as Auto-Q, allows retailers to measure the number of customers inside their store at any given time and provides a ‘traffic light’ system for automatic control of entry to the store. It also offers the additional ability to advertise key information to waiting customers.

It operates using 3D sensors installed at store entrance and exit points, which provide an accurate, real-time measure of exactly how many people are inside, with programmable email and push notifications alerting staff at key capacity thresholds.

Widd Sign’s industry leading capabilities mean it is able to develop and integrate the complete system along with digital displays and housings, creating bespoke units which can be positioned internally or externally in line with store requirements.

The digital display can also be used for advertising purposes and to communicate real-time store information to customers, such as estimated waiting times and safety guidance.

Widd Signs managing director Gary Williams said: “In response to COVID-19, retailers are now required to adapt their stores like never before, with their priority rightly being the safety of their employees and customers.

“Our Auto-Q technology has been created with the latest occupancy requirements in mind. It offers an accurate, cost-effective, and reliable alternative to manual counting, enabling retailers to manage occupancy and queuing customers safely, efficiently and effectively, whilst reallocating staff to other important store operations.

“As with all of our solutions, the system can be designed and installed to meet bespoke requirements and integrated into existing systems and technologies.”

Auto-Q is the latest retailer solution to be launched by Widd Signs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the company recently unveiling a range of bespoke hygiene solutions including antimicrobial acrylic protection screens, floor and wall graphics and hand-sanitising stations.

Widd Signs completed the acquisition of Spectrum Sign & Display and its new 20,000 sq ft site in St Helens in early 2020, as part of the company’s expansion plans, adding additional expertise and boosting its in-house manufacturing capacity and capabilities.

The Auto-Q solution is immediately available to retailers. For more information, visit uxglobal.co.uk
