A 10-year-old boy who is missing his friends has captured the thoughts of others his age in a moving poem about how much he misses school during lockdown.

Initially when lockdown was announced St Teresa's Primary pupil Luke Adair was excited, feeling like it was an early half term.

However, as the weeks have gone on and not being able to play with his friends or cousin who lives next door, Luke is now missing school.

This came to the attention of his mum Amanda, 43, who was shocked to learn her son had written a poem on the topic.

St Helens Star:

She said: "It's a lovely but sad poem because at first, like many kids, I think they were excited to be off.

"But he lives next door to his cousin and can't even play with him so it is hard for children, especially as time goes on.

"I just came in from work one day and the next morning it was on the table for me.

"He didn't always enjoy school before, just because he is that age really, and he's not one to put pen to paper, so it really shows you how much he is missing school.

"I just thought I would share it with others, because I think many other children are probably feeling the same way.

"His school teachers certainly agreed with it, they are missing the students too."
