A BUSINESS Owner from Haydock is set to star in Lockdown Reality Dating Show hosted by former Emmerdale star.

The first episode of new Lockdown reality dating show ‘Lovedown’ to air this summer will feature Haydock Business Owner Ryan Hall.

Lovedown is the brainchild of former Emmerdale star Kelsey-Beth Crossley and West-End star and Producer Ashley Luke Lloyd.

When the UK went into lockdown, productions across the UK ceased filming and many projects had to be put on hold.

Many professionals in the TV industry have been exploring new ways to produce TV shows and Kelsey and Ashley saw the challenges facing those who may be single during lockdown. Together they came up with the idea of a lockdown dating show.

Business Owner Ryan Hall from Haydock will star in the first episode of Lovedown when it premieres this summer.

Ryan - who runs his own business as an Auto Electrical Engineer- joined the show to find love and says he took part in the show because he loves “going out of my comfort zone and then pulling it off."

He said: "I hope I can make people laugh during these sad times, if I can do that I have achieved what I set out to do."

You can catch a first look at Ryan’s appearance by tuning into the Lovedown UK Instagram at 8pm tonight.

Online dating during lockdown has taken on a new meaning now that many of the traditional cinema and restaurant dates are not possible. Single men and women have had to be creative in their pursuit of finding love.

Many romance-seekers have found themselves turning to online dates using video calling. Lovedown follows a group of four men and four women as they attempt to find love during a time of social distancing.

To work around the current UK rules of lockdown, casting and filming has been done completely online with a production team all working from home to adhere to social distancing rules.

To create the show, the contestants recorded their dates using their own phones or computers and then sent their footage to the production team. This adds an authentic feel to the show which captures the current situation for would-be daters during lockdown.

Speaking about the show, Kelsey-Beth said: “Being single isn’t so bad when you have hobbies/ a career/ friends but one day when that’s all stripped from you and all you’re allowed to do is DIY, bake and exercise, it’s nice to have a partner to share the highs and lows with.

"I have enjoyed this experience so much, the love birds are such warm, lovely people with big personalities and hopefully we can play a tiny part in helping them find love or even just giving them and our viewers a few laughs in a hard time.

"Watching the footage and meeting everyone virtually has brought such light to the long days and we are all having a blast!”

When asked about the inspiration for the show, Ashley said “We’re all in this crazy and confusing time together. We wanted to have some fun, bring some joy to everyone’s four walls and connect people together - and who knows, maybe some of our love birds will fall in love!”
