IF you’re missing going out dancing with your friends during lockdown then Kingsmead’s Sharon Power might have a solution for you.

The fitness instructor and dance teacher has been running exercise and dance classes in community and school halls for more than a decade, but in the current climate has taken to the internet to keep people fit and active.

The founder of Dancingkidz School of Dance and Power Fitness, who also works for Barclays, is hosting regular classes each week via Zoom – amongst them the popular Clubbercise which might just itch the scratch for those of you missing being out on the dancefloor.

Sharon explained: “Maybe you love letting go and having a dance when you go out with friends or family, perhaps you love the feeling you get from having a dance, or feel maybe too old for ‘clubbing’ anymore.

“If that’s the case then this is for you, especially at this time when venues are closed, and we can’t get together with our friends and loved ones.

“Clubbercise is a workout in the dark with glow sticks which allows you to sweat to your favourite chart anthems from the 90s onwards.

“It’s a great way to keep fit and active but also just a way to have some fun and let loose.”

In addition to running the Clubbercise sessions, Sharon also hosting Zumba, Hatha yoga, Konga and Tyga workshops online.

She added: “Like many people in this line of work I’ve needed to adapt how I deliver my classes, and while there has been a drop off I’ve been so touched by the number of people who’ve stuck with me and I’d be more than happy to add extra sessions if there is a demand there.

“I would like to thank everyone who’s been coming online, taking part in the classes and supporting me at this time.

“It’s so important for us to keep active and fit in a safe way and this is a great way to have some fun and stay connected with other people despite being in isolation.”

Last month Sharon rallied her neighbours round to raise funds for the NHS with a driveway dance along to the Village People classic YMCA.
