ALL GP surgeries in St Helens will remain open on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

While many practices are carrying out their duties remotely as much as possible, they are still open to registered patients during the coronavirus pandemic.

Community pharmacies have also been asked by NHS England to open for several hours on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

“Further to national guidance from NHS England, we are supporting all St Helens practices to be able to provide services on Good Friday and Easter Monday,” said Julie Ashurst, director for commissioning, primary care and transformation at NHS St Helens CCG.

“Our committed and professional GP practice colleagues across St Helens have risen to the unique challenges that face us and I’d like to thank them for their efforts.

“Patients should call their practice if they need an appointment or to speak to a clinician on those days and they will be directed to the relevant service.”

Out of hours services remain in place from 6.30pm to 8am, Monday to Friday and over the weekend.

Telephone your own surgery and you will be diverted to the out of hours service.

If you need to attend the pharmacy, check for their opening hours before attending.

As a minimum, pharmacies will be open between 2pm to 5pm on both days for dispensing and collection of prescriptions.

Residents who need to collect medical prescriptions from their local pharmacy are advised to call ahead.

If you have a prescription request and are unable to collect this
personally you should arrange for this to be collected on your behalf by a family member, friend or neighbour.

If this is not possible then you can ask your GP or pharmacy whether this can be delivered to you.

If this option is unavailable you, contact St Helens Together by
calling 01744 676767.
