A LIFELONG Bradford City fan and supporters club founder has died after a battle with coronavirus.

Alan Drake "passed away peacefully" at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) yesterday, according to the East Bierley Bantams Supporters Club.

The club said on social media website, Twitter: "It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of East Bierley Bantams member and life-long City fan, Alan Drake.

"Drakey passed away peacefully yesterday in the LGI with coronavirus after putting up a real fight as always.

"He was a true gentlemen and huge friend to many of us.

"Here he is pictured in happier times at his 80th birthday celebrations - God bless."

Mr Drake was a founding member of the East Bierley Bantams Supporters Club.

Bradford City paid tribute to "Drakey" on Twitter as well.

The club's post said: "We are devastated to learn of the passing of lifelong BCAFC supporter and East Bierley Bantams founding member, Alan Drake, who was battling coronavirus.

"The thoughts of everyone at the club are with his loved ones at this difficult time. Rest in Peace."
