SIX more people who tested positive for coronavirus have died at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The latest NHS figures show one person died on Monday, April 6.

This is in addition to the three people who have already been confirmed to have died on Monday at the trust, which runs Whiston, St Helens and Newton hospitals.

Four people died on Tuesday, April 7, while one person is confirmed to have died on Wednesday, April 8.

The latest figures bring the total number of confirmed deaths at the trust to 34.

Their families have been informed.

Across in England, a further 765 people who tested positive for the Covid-19 have died.

This brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 7,248.

Patients were aged between 24 and 103 years old.

Out of the 765 patients 43 – aged between 33 and 99 years old – had no known underlying health condition.

All of the confirmed deaths are patients who have died in hospitals in England and had tested positive for Covid-19 at time of death.

The figures are updated by NHS England at 2pm each day and include confirmed cases reported at 5pm the previous day.

Confirmation of coronavirus diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take several days.

This means that, as deaths are confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 and as more post-mortem tests are processed and validated, previous day’s totals may rise.

The daily figures from NHS England do not include deaths outside hospital, such as those in care homes.

NHS England does not currently release figures on how many patients have recovered after testing positive for Covid-19.
