IT'S an issue quite a few of us may have been mulling over: with barbers and hairdressers shut during the lockdown restrictions just how do you go about having a trim?

Well, some less than impressive "DIY attempts" with dubbers at home have already been posted online, sparking plenty of laughs.

Johhny Vegas is among those who have decided it's time for hair cut and he has come up with a novel way of doing so...in front of the TV cameras.

On Friday Thatto Heath's Johnny will have his hair shaved live (at a safe distance) on Channel 4's The Steph Show by Saints legend Paul Sculthorpe.

Johnny, whose real name is Michael Pennington, has been back in his hometown helping to deliver food parcels to the vulnerable and elderly during the coronavirus outbreak.

He has been doing this for The Steve Prescott Foundation and through The Eccleston Arms, which has opened up their venue to deliver food to those who need it during the crisis.

St Helens Star:

Johnny is now taking things a step further in a bid to raise funds for The SPF and is going to have Star columnist Scully shave his head with dubbers attached to a two metre pole.

Announcing this on his Just Giving page, Johnny said: "With bed head this bad I'm in desperate need of a trim.

St Helens Star:

"I could have a go myself but if you kind folk are willing to donate a few quid towards our ongoing voluntary efforts with the Steve Prescott Foundation, working out of The Eccleston Arms delivering food to St Helens' frontline heroes, elderly and vulnerable, I am willing, whilst obeying safe distancing, to let former Saints legend Paul Sculthorpe loose with clippers and a six foot pole this coming Friday.

"There's no love lost between yours truly and that big lumper, and we've even secured live TV coverage on the The Steph Show Channel 4 12 noon.

"Will I look like I just stepped out of a salon, or a saloon?

"Tune in to see and hopefully help us out with whatever donation you can afford. Cheers"
