POLICE pulled out all the stops this weekend to cheer up a seven-year-old boy who had to cancel his police themed party due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Dylan Park-Linney from Billinge was "heartbroken" when his mum Kirsty Linney had to cancel his birthday party on March 27 due to Covid-19 lockdown.

Kirsty, a healthcare assistant at Whiston Hospital, said: "It was planned to have a police themed family party at home followed by a ninja warrior party the next day with friends and family.

"Dylan was heartbroken that he couldn’t spend time with his family and friends because the parties got cancelled but also we were self isolating for 14 days due to Dylan having a temperature and sore throat.

"My mum contacted the police to see if any passing patrols could beep or put sirens on or something when passing as he loves the police. "But they responded saying that they would ensure a visit at some point on his birthday."

Officers from Greater Manchester Police turned up and not only cheered up Dylan by putting the lights and siren on for him, but also let him get pictures with the police car while talking to him about him turning seven.

Kirsty, 31, added: "Dylan was so shocked and so happy it really did make his day and he still talking about it now.

"It made me very emotional as well as I knew how much it meant to him and with everything that’s going on at the minute I really did appreciate it with all the stress and worry it was nice for us to all enjoy something."
