STAFF at a care home have gone above and beyond the call of duty even deciding to move in to help keep residents safe.

Eight staff members, including manager Lisa Walsh moved in at Prospect House in Rainhill during the testing times of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lisa says staff members have gone "above and beyond" during the difficult situation and that the home has helped keep residents in contact with relatives while they are not allowed to visit.

The home, which was rated as Good in its last CQC inspection, has 19 residents.

Lisa added the home has had two confirmed coronavirus cases.

She said: "During these hard times eight of our amazing staff decided to move in.

"We have had confirmed (coronavirus) cases and would like to keep our residents and families safe and be here 24/7.

"These girls are absolute angels, we have not been home or seen our families for over a week now and the dedication they have shown is above and beyond."

She added: "The night staff have done the nights and we get up and do the full day shift.

"The residents' families have been really good, they've been dropping parcels off for us, we've been spoiled really.

"We're trying to keep the residents in touch with their families as much as we can on a WhatsApp group and some on Face Time.

"The families have been really supportive throughout all of this, it must be worrying for them.

"We've not got many residents here so we are very close."

Those who moved in along with Lisa are Lisa Hill, Claire Carlton, Sarah Wood, Michelle Duggan, Jodie Ashall, Ellie Scott and Tian Mills.

Lisa added: "We have had good support from the community and the local authority."
