ST Helens South and Whiston MP Marie Rimmer is calling for NHS staff to be offered free public travel during the coronavirus crisis, adding 'it is the very least we can give them.'
Frontline NHS workers are working around the clock to not only care for regular hospital patients and those in need of treatment, but also with the growing demands caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
A lot of support has been offered to NHS staff, with the latest being a call from many MPs across the country calling for public transport to be free for NHS staff throughout the remainder of the crisis.
Marie Rimmer CBE MP said: "The last thing I want is for NHS staff to be worrying about whether they have the correct or enough change for a bus.
"After all, this is likely the biggest challenge our health service will face in a generation.
"We owe it to NHS workers to make their jobs as easy as possible.
"They are putting their own wellbeing on the lines to look after us, so at the very least we can give them free public transport."
