THE number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the borough has jumped to 112.

In the latest figures released on Thursday (April 2) the borough has 112 confirmed cases of Covid-19, an increase of 40 on the previous day's total signalling the biggest jump in 24 hours so far.

Meanwhile, Knowsley now has 79 confirmed cases.

There are likely to be many more people with the virus, self-isolating at home.

St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust has confirmed the deaths of eight patients who had tested positive for Covid-19.

Across the country there have been 33,718 confirmed cases, with 2,921 people dying with the illness.
