A DRIVER who was "weaving all over" the motorway was found to be using his phone, on a "non-essential" journey.

PC Martin Willis, from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit, spotted a van moving across the westbound carriageway of the M62, near junction 27 (M621, Gildersome) on Friday evening.

The officer stopped the vehicle to discover the reason the driver was "weaving all over the carriageway" was because he was using his phone while driving.

He also was not travelling for an essential reason.

PC Martin Willis said: "It transpired the driver was using his phone whilst driving and not using the vehicle for an essential purpose.

"Too many people are still not taking COVID-19 seriously enough."
