A 28-YEAR-OLD man will appear at Leeds Crown Court on firearm charges next month, after shots were heard in a neighbourhood.

Jake Mitchell, of Carlinghow, in Batley was in Leeds Magistrates' Court on Friday, March 27.

He faced charges of, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of a section 5 firearm and possession of cannabis. 

The case was sent to Leeds Crown Court due to its severity, with Mr Mitchell entering no plea.

He is now set to appear at Crown Court on Friday, April 24.

The charges are in relation to an incident which happened in the early hours of the morning, last Thursday.

Members of the public reported hearing shots fired in Carrington Green, Batley, at around 3am, on March 26.

Mr Mitchell was subsequently arrested and charged.
