THE Steve Prescott Bride will shine blue tonight as a sign of appreciation for the NHS amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The St Helens bridge will join other landmarks and buildings across the UK in lighting up royal blue at 8pm this evening, Thursday, March 26.
In a statement, St Helens Council Leader David Baines said: “Our country is facing a huge challenge. On the front lines of this battle are our heroic NHS staff, providing outstanding round the clock care as always.
“St Helens is proud to join other places across the nation in paying tribute to NHS workers, and we will be lighting the Steve Prescott Bridge in royal blue as a mark of respect and also as a symbol of hope and solidarity in troubled times.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to remind residents that the best way you can protect our precious NHS is to stay at home unless you’re an identified key worker or you need to collect essential supplies such as food and medicine.
"Please stay home, protect the NHS, save lives.”
