A VILLAGE pub has unveiled its new look after a £600,000 transformation.
The Golden Lion on Church Road, Rainford held a soft opening on Thursday evening and officially opened for business on Friday (March 13).
Heineken owned Star Pubs & Bars1 and The Old Hall Pub Company, headed by brothers Chris and Jon Nevin, have pumped more than £600,000 in the major renovation to the village pub for the community.
The pub is also looking to open its outside dining area over the next couple of weeks.
Inside The Golden Lion has had a complete overhaul, retaining a traditional country pub feel with wooden panelling and the addition of open fires. Raised alcoves are available for private dining or small functions.
The front of the pub has been given a facelift, redecorated in a stone coloured render with white window surrounds, new lighting and signage.
Meanwhile, at the back of the pub there will soon be a paved terrace and dining tables and a large grassed area.
There are also new guest parking facilities.
The new food menu uses local produce and there is also a weekend specials menu.
The pub opens for weekend brunch from 8.30am and food is available from 12pm until late evening daily, with a choice of smaller plates from the main menu for children.
The pub will also offer Sunday lunch and weekend specials board.
