ST Helens' Dog Welfare and Enforcement Service is appealing for information after a cross German Shepherd dog was brought into them in a severely emaciated state today.

The dog, being called ‘Ted’ for now by the veterinary staff who are caring for him, was found as a stray by a member of the public late Wednesday evening on Wood Street, St Helens.

The finder brought the dog into an emergency veterinary practice who contacted St Helens’ Dog Welfare and Enforcement Service.

St Helens Star:

The dog was not wearing a collar or identity tag bearing the details of the owner, and has not been microchipped, which are both a legal requirement under dog ownership legislation.

The service is appealing for information about the ownership of Ted. If you have information about the owner, please contact the Dog Welfare and Enforcement Service in confidence on 01744 676299 or email environmentalhealth@sthelens.gov.uk.

Any assistance in identifying the owner would be greatly appreciated.
