A NUCLEAR fuel company has donated £10,000 to Claire House Children's Hospice.

Urenco’s Capenhurst site donated £10,000 to the hospice the Wirral, which helps seriously and terminally ill children.

The hospice was chosen by Urenco’s workforce in Capenhurst having helped several members of Urenco staff and their families.

Richard Lamb, a member of the workforce, recently suffered the loss of a child cared for by the hospice

He said: “Claire House supported me and my family through the worst time in our lives. They gave us time together that wouldn’t have been available if this charity didn’t exist. We know this money will help other families who find themselves in desperate need of help.”

Josh Worrall and Sharon Craney from Claire House accepted the donation at Urenco’s Capenhurst site.

Josh said: “A huge thank you to Urenco from all of us at Claire House. £10,000 is a fantastic amount that will make a huge difference to local families in need of our services. This amount will make sure 12 local families get their child’s final moments absolutely right. It could fund the very best end-of-life care money can buy, from the use of our Butterfly Suites up until the funeral, to bereavement support, home cooked meals as well memory making and precious keepsakes that will last a lifetime.”

In total, Urenco donated £50,000 to a variety of local charities at each of its locations.

Lynton Simmonds, managing director of Urenco UK, said: “Our success over the past 50 years is based on our strong relationships with a wide variety of trusted and valued partners, including our local communities.

"This is why we wanted to celebrate our recent 50th milestone by making a contribution to worthwhile initiatives around our sites, and we were delighted to donate £10,000 to Claire House.”
