TWO men were arrested in St Helens after reports a man was carrying a firearm.
Police were called to Canal Street at around 12.05pm on Thursday after allegations a man was in possession of a firearm.
A 23-year-old man was detained at a nearby premises and drugs were found.
He was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs and taken to a police station for questioning.
He has been released under investigation.

A 40-year-old man from St Helens was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession with intent to supply drugs.
He has been released on conditional bail.
No firearm was located and enquiries are ongoing.
