Police say there were four burglars, dressed in dark clothing and wearing facial coverings made off, some on foot, and some in a black Ford Focus which was located on Ashgrove Crescent a short time later.
It is believed a number of items including clothing were stolen from the house.
No occupants were in the house at the time of the break-in, say police.
Police stopped three men in the area a short time later who were found to have not been involved in the incident.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and locate the burglars.
Detective Inspector Jackie Guinness said: “We are appealing for witnesses following this burglary on Tuesday evening and would ask anyone with information to please contact us.
“The incident happened in a residential area, so if you saw any suspicious behaviour or males fitting the description making off from the scene, please let us know. Likewise we are keen to hear from anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage.”
