THERE was a closure in place for more than three hours after cars aquaplaned on the Rainford bypass this morning (Monday, February 24).
The Rainford bypass northbound had been closed, with queueing traffic in the area following the incidents.

Two separate vehicles, a Mercedes and a Ford Fiesta, have reportedly lost control due to the surface water, say police.
The vehicles did not collide with each other.
"There was a lot of surface water and it appears cars may have swerved and lost control.
"The fire and rescue service were on the scene, no one was trapped inside a vehicle.
"None have collided with each other but both have aquaplaned.
"Outstanding water needs to be dealt with and the council have sent a wagon to clear the water."
Thne road has now been re-opened and the accident cleared and the surface water has subsided.
