A COFFEE morning in Whitchurch has been held to help raise funds for a children's charity.

The coffee morning was held at St John's Methodist Church in St John's Street on Saturday, February 22 and was co-ordinated by David Whiteley.

Funds raised at the coffee morning will go to Action for Children, a national charity that helps give children and young people a safe and happy childhood.

David Whiteley, who organised the event, explained St John's association with the charity.

"The Methodist Church has a charity in Action for Children, who do a lot of projects with children in need," said David.

"The prime areas round here are Wrexham and Shrewsbury. It's about helping children avoid to wrong side of the law.

"As a church, we have the collection boxes. A person will take these home and put whatever they have into it throughout the year.

"And this event is where we collect those boxes up and send them to the charity as a grand lump sum.

"What we're doing in our own small way is funding facilities for Action for Children."
