A MAN has been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm after a disturbance outside a pub.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance outside The Vulcan pub in Sutton on Sunday evening (February 9).

Officers were called at 6.15pm to a report a 57-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from a head injury. He has since been discharged.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody.

Police have confirmed they have since charged a man in connection with the disturbance.

Stephen Carney, 32, of Peckers Hill Road, Sutton was charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of a Class A controlled drug.

He appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (February 11).

He was remanded in custody and will next appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, March 10.
