YOUNG artists from across the borough are urged to take part in this year's Youth Open Art Competition at The World of Glass and St Mary's Market.

This annual competition provides a showcase for the talents of younger artists aged up to and including 16 years of age who live and or study in St Helens.

Categories range from nursery-aged children right through to Year 11.

Works are welcomed across all mediums including drawing, glass, textiles, sculpture, painting, printmaking, mixed media, photography and digital media.

This year can also include animation and film work in the final exhibition.

Artwork submissions will be accepted at St. Mary’s Market, St Mary’s Arcade, St Helens,

WA10 1AR on the following dates: March 10 and March 11 from 2pm to 5pm each day and late entries will not be accepted.

  • Nursery/Reception
  • Key Stage 1
  • Key Stage 2
  • Key Stage 3
  • Key Stage 4
  • Secondary Photography/Graphic Art/Digital Media (sponsored by Vinyline Graphics who offer a work placement for first place in this category)

Prizes will be awarded in each category and all exhibitors will be presented with a certificate.

Entry Guidelines

• All submitted artworks must be original works of art

• Due to space limitations, artwork must not exceed A3 for pieces submitted

by Key Stage 1, 2 or 3 pupils and A1 for Key Stage 4 pupils

• Only one entry per person will be accepted

• Up to 20 entries per school - please do not submit whole classes but select the best.

The exhibition will take place from Saturday, March 21 to Friday, May 1 from 10am to 5pm, from Monday to Saturday at The World of Glass and St Mary’s Market.

The exhibition prize-giving will take place at The World of Glass on Thursday, March 26 at 5.30pm for Primary and 7pm for Secondary
