A ROAD which was blocked after a JCB hit a bridge has reopened.
The vehicle struck a bridge on Merton Bank Road in Islands Brow at around 11am this morning (Tuesday, January 28).

There was queueing traffic from Lincoln Crescent to Hinckley Road.

Police said the road was likely to remain closed for some time.
It has now reopened with traffic returning to normal.
A traffic update at 3.20pm said: "Traffic returned to normal, earlier accident on Islands Brow both ways from Lincoln Crescent to Hinckley Road.
"The road was closed following a vehicle colliding with a bridge."
