A TEENAGER has been hit by a car on Winwick Road this morning.

Emergency services have been called to the scene, near to junction nine of the M62 at Winwick, after the accident at around 8.15am today, Tuesday.

The North West Ambulance Service said that a boy, aged approximately 13, was taken to hospital after suffering injuries to his leg and arm in a collision with a vehicle on the A49.

One lane of the entry slip road to the westbound carriageway of the motorway was closed due to the crash, but the route has since fully reopened.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "At around 8.20am on Tuesday, January 21, emergency services were called to reports of a collision on the westbound sliproad of the M62 at junction nine.

"Officers attended the scene and found the collision involved a teenage boy and a car - the sliproad was temporarily closed while officers dealt with the incident, the closure has since been lifted.

"The boy is believed to have sustained minor injuries and has been taken to hospital at a precautionary measure."
