A NEW 10k race is launching at Knowsley Safari Park this March, giving runners the opportunity to run alongside the animals.

The Knowsley 10k at Knowsley Safari Park will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2020, organised by The Running Bee Foundation.

Get your paws ready for the race in and around the grounds of the iconic Knowsley Hall and Safari.

The fast, flat route passes the Hall and brings runners back to the start/finish area close to the Foot Safari alongside these animals.

The cost of joining for club runners is £16 and £18 for standard entry.

Spectators are welcome to get in on the action as well as enjoy a fun day out with the family.

Parking will be available at a charge of £5; this will allow access to the Foot Safari on the day as well as passes for the amazing Sea Lion display.

There is also an option for attendees to visit the Safari Drive after the event for a £20 fee per car (this includes parking and Foot Safari).

During the race, runners will receive official chip timing, water at the middle and end of the run, and route markers at every 1km. For all who complete the race, they will receive a special eco-friendly commemorative Knowsley 10k medal and technical t-shirt.

Stephen Owen, Foundation Operations Manager said: “We are delighted to be announcing The Running Bee Foundation’s newest race at Knowsley – it’s an incredible venue and offers something really unique to our runners.

"We are encouraging runners to show their inner animal and hoping some will join us to gain their personal bests (with NO CHEETAHS!). We look forward to welcoming runners on March 15th’’

You can purchase your entry at knowsley10k.com.

All profits from the event will be donated to communities in Merseyside by The Running Bee Foundation to help create and improve health and wellbeing initiatives in the area.
